Engine fail safe mode 2006 Ford Expedition

Asked by GuruQMDLB Nov 25, 2019 at 03:30 PM about the 2006 Ford Expedition XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced spark plugs that were coded
as misfiring when the check engine light came on
and it was running slow. Now the engine fail safe
is on what do I do? How do I turn it off? My truck
will not start to take it to a mechanic.

Is it starting? How is the idle and is the check engine light on or flashing? Verify that the plugs are installed correctly along with the coils, and that no wiring was damaged or disconnected during the repair. Perhaps a bad coil, but that can be verified before replacing.

It will not start now the engine fail-safe mode is on. When the issue started the idle was bad loss of power and the check engine light was flashing, codes said misfire on 5&8 .i did notice after i started it back up and it went into limp mode i shut it off to check the wires that the map sensor was not fully plugged back in. Could this cause it to be in engine fail-safe . and if so is it true you can disconnect the battery drain the power to restart the computer and the engine fail-safe to be able to start it up again?
