overdrive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when driving the rx300, should the O/D off display on the panel or not? I am not sure how to use the o/d

Gortiz the light should be off in the dash. I don't remember if that means that it is engaged or not but I do remember that for normal driving there should be no light, that is on, on the dash. Does that make sense? No light on dash. Thats it.

Thanks. But the engine does not go over 2,000 RPMs when the light is off. Is this the way it's supposed to be. I just feel like my car sounds like it is forcing itself

yeah thats not normal. The purpose of overdrive is to extend the gear ratios so that you get more power at higher rpms out of a lower gear, so the fact that is stays at 2000rpms means something is wrong. It would make the engine louder but it should go over 2000 rpms.
