Emergency brake adjustment

Does anybody out there know I had to adjust the
emergency brake on a I S2 50 Lexus I change my brake
pads on the rear but emergency brake is still kind a loose
if anybody out there knows please let me know

On rear brake drums (if yours has drums), if all parts are in good working order and the brakes were adjusted out using the adjuster at bottom then it should be working good. On rear drum I adjust it out far enough to barely allow the drum with some effort to get it back on, then I put both hands on it across from each other to give it a good spin and it should stop on its own within a 1/4 turn. After this if it turn farther than I liked and the drum barely fit back on I drive it in reverse in straight line and apply the brake until stopped, not fast or hard just normal braking. Until I feel they have gotten tighter, then e-brake will be firm assuming all parts are not worn out, the bar going across just under the wheel cylinder has to be installed correctly too as-well as the rest of the hardware. I like to change all the hardware when doing the rear if they have issues with performance or e-brake is no good. Some of the parts you need have to be purchased separately as they are not in the kit.

Now you can also put the drum on and pull the rubber plug out the back backing plate and use a brake drum spoon and adjust it out, its just faster for me to slide the drum on and if it goes on loose I keep pulling it back off and adjust the adjuster by hand until the drum barley goes on and then I try to pull it back off and if it comes off I adjust it another tooth or 2 and make sure shoes are all lined up and work the drum back and forth until I get it back on, and if when I give it a spin it rotates say a whole turn I will use brake spoon and adjust it out from back side of backing plate otherwise if its say a half a turn its faster/easier to reverse/apply brake a few time to get it adjust out and it will be even too.

Hello I would like to know if it is dangerous to drive my is 250 Lexus’s .. I just had the mechanic cut the emergency brake because it locked my right back break can I still drive it in that condition ?? I want to be safe .

You can drive it, but be safe. Do not park on hills. If the brakes go out then you could be in danger.
