I recently bought a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. Within a month I replaced the alternator belt 3 times. And then the alternator. It makes a loud screech when I first start the car and stops when I get to about 45 mph. Any suggestions?

I bought a 2002 Hyundai Sonata with 46,000 miles. It had sat for a couple years. Soon
after buying the car I tore the alternator belt. Replaced it 2 more times and also replaced
the alternator. When I would start the car it would make a screeching sound till I hit about
45 mph and then it would stop screeching. Is a pulley off balanced or what?

I'd say the tensioner or idle pulley bearing is probably seized or close to it. Take the belt off again and spin each pulley that the belt runs around to find the one that is making the noise and or spins freely. A new one will turn smooth but only make one revolution.
