2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo climate control problem

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the dual digital display climate control.  Everything seems to work however the fan won't work when I turn it on.  I tried wiring the fan directly to the battery and it kicks on fine. What could be the problem?

Check the blower motor resistor located under the dash passenger side in the duct work. It has a red & black power connector and cover over the resistor module. The module seems to draw to much current and will melt the connector causing the blower to stop working. I replaced mine and the blower works again but blows much lower than it previously did.
