'06 VW convertible Beetle ? Extended Warranty Contract? Purchase?

Asked by Jul 21, 2012 at 06:30 PM about the Volkswagen Super Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

:) I've got 2 wks to decide if I want to keep a 3 yrs or 3,500 miles extended warranty contract I
purchased last week for my '06 VW convertible Beetle, The cost was $3,000. and this is what's
bothering me the most? The car has 73K miles, CarFax reports one owner that leased it first then
purchased it.
This jewel of a car checked out great with a local mechanic, I read the fine print on the contract,
owned a VW Beetle b4 & am aware how costly maintenance can be but I'd like opinions on if this $3K
was  a wise decision. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Do you mean 35000 miles and not 3500? It's all a personal decision to purchase the extended warrarty. Do you have $3K now to spend to fix something that might happen in 3 years and hope it's covered, or do you keep the 3K in the bank and if something goes wrong, draw on it to repair the car? I'd say you'd be on the plus side or worst case even.
