why is the fuel door on the passenger side of 1973 challengers

As opposed to what? Driver side? Middle of rear bumper? Some makers did that out of safety concerns, so you wouldn't be standing in the road refilling the car if you ever ran out of gas while driving. 1st gen. Challengers all had the gas cap on passenger side. Personally I think it's location was based purely on aesthetics.
