Beltline Door Molding

I am missing a plain black beltline molding strip on the driver door and can't seem to find a replacement.  This is a 1992 240.  Is it possible to take a black strip with chrome trim and remove the chrome, or are they two different shapes?  I would appreciate an answer from anyone that knows.  Thank you.

I found out the answer myself. No, you cannot remove the chrome strip as it has the clips on it to attach to the door. You can only paint over the chrome or use a black tape over it to cover it up. I finally found a plain black beltline molding strip after calling all over the country.
