my second click on my key fob no longer operates the secondary doors. Is that a bad battery?
first click works immediately. trunk click takes a little more time to activate. second click stopped working, then worked a couple of times, and now this morning does not work. I am thinking it is the fob battery. does VW use this as an indicator of battery strength? Or is this a mechanical problem?
It sounds as though the BCM has stopped recognizing the 2nd-click function of the keyfob. Try replacing the battery, but if it does not work, check your owner's manual to see if the 2nd-click function can be disabled through a series of clicks on the fob. We see so many cars at the dealership where people have turned off options by accident, and we have to turn them back on, at $76 per hour.
Thanks! You can bet I'll check that.
Mine does that OCCASIONALLY. But not all the time. It can never hurt to replace the battery, so try that first. The key pries apart and the battery is either a 2016, 2025, or 2032.
