1980 1300 auto stalls when warm and is then difficult to start

Asked by Feb 08, 2015 at 06:57 PM about the 1980 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

starts cold with choke fine but after its warm it wants to stall and will stall at stops and restarts has been doing this in summer before now in cool weather to when at operating temp

Sounds like the choke isn't opening as the engine warms up. This causes an overly rich air/fuel mixture once the engine begins to warm up. HTH. -Jim

I would start by replacing your EGR valve and replacing your Air Intake / Charge Temperature Sensor. Which is pictured below.

It has a manual choke thanks but this temp sensor air intake thing looks promising thanks both of you guys

You're welcome. Glad to help. -Jim

I had no idea how complicated these little cars are sensors everywhere

Paul, do you change out the sensor yet?

no not yet but will try soon also I recently put premium gas in it that wouldn't make a difference?

No. Premium only stops spark knock in some vehicles.
