Just bought 65 thunderbird and can't get speedometer to work

Asked by Jun 20, 2015 at 04:56 PM about the 1965 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1 Answer

That is a ribbon spedometer and they were trouble when they were new. You don't say if it works at all or not. If it works, but bounces from 30 to 100, there is no repair. If it does not read or move at all, check the spedo cable and the drive gear in the transmission. Those parts are available at some of the Thunderbird supply houses.
