Travsmission will not engage any gear, Transmission or something else?

Asked by Jul 07, 2014 at 10:18 AM about the 1998 Toyota Sienna

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Travsmission will not engage any gear.  Shift, and nothing.  Then when you go to put it
back in park, it buzzes before dropping into park.   Is this the transmission or something
else?  What kinda cost do ya think?

Bad front pump on transmission costing someone about $1600 to rebuild.

I think the transmission is still ok. It sounds like it is engaging into gears but not moving. The answer maybe within the axles. It really sounds like some gear or spline is stripped.
