Selling a 2001 Toyota Corolla that needs a new transmission?
I'm not an expert on this, but from what I understand the seal by the axle is no good,
and a new seal won't do. It leaks a lot of transmission fluid. Also, it started smoking
white smoke from under the engine (haven't gotten it checked out). It's got around
180,000 miles on it. I've bought a new car and its sitting in the street. I am interested
in selling it, but would have to get a smog check on it first because I live in CA. Is it
even worth the trouble of selling it? Could I get maybe $500 or something for its
parts? The KBB for it is around $2,000, but the new owner installing a new
transmission would probably cost them more than that. What is the best way to go
about getting this Corolla off of my hands?
Sell it to someone 'as is' for $500.
