i have a 2005 pontiac sunfire and just this morning a yellow light came on. i dont know if its my transmission light or my engine light. tell me which one is it?

If the light looks similar to the one at the following link, it is your check engine light. You should try to go to Autozone where they will read the code for free, but I would not buy any parts based solely off of their scanner. that would be the check engine light, which means the ecu has stored a code
