perhaps debris or leaves has "snapped" it shut~ needs to be kinda forced open to get the leaves out...so it won't stick closed~ use the key and shove it open...then look for something that's preventing it from closing smoothly~

There is no physical key to the trunk. It only opens by remote.

...tell me ...can your ear hear an thuk or click or anything, what may give us hope to know that the actual mechanism is trying to to it's job but cannot as it's "locked" into position...that's my theory..else look 'pon the fuseblock to find the fuse that is blown~

whatever play from squishing the weatherstrips might help...if the pawl and latch are being stubborn~

do you know where the fuse is for this mechanism or will start searchin' the web for ya~

You can open the trunk by holding the unlock switch on the driver's side door for a couple seconds.

Just hold the switch at the bottom of the door switch panel to the left until you hear the trunk pop open. The key fob is probably just worn out.
