93 T bird seatbelt
There could a foreign body in the seat belt retractor and has it jammed up, but most likely the unit has failed and will have to be replaced.
Thanks, here's more info. I was able to retract the belt manually following the instructions but when I open the door the belt went back into the open position which it's suppose to do and wouldn't retract when the door was closed.
Fords electric seat belts are the pits, there are a lot of switches that you are going to have to test out, seat switch, fore and aft limit switches, then there are the relays. I would recommend getting a shop manual with wiring diagrams and component locator if you are going to do this job yourself, of course you could disconnect the retract motor and turn the thumbscrew all the way back to full retracted, that makes a bit of a problem getting in and out but at least the belt is on.
it was impossible to find a manual. I am able to retract the seatbelt using the thumbscew but how do I disconnect the motor? I think I would settle f having the belt in the back position.
As you are already there the wiring plug should be about six from the motor, it maybe conceled in the post but it is right there.
