Rolls Royce Silver Spur engine dies while driving

I have a 1999 RR Spur, one of the last ones made in Crewe, with a 6.75 L
engine. It ran great when I bought it a few months ago. I had trouble picking
up stations on the AM/FM radio so I had a certified mechanic replace the
radio with a very nice AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth upscale unit. About a month later
I was driving the car and the engine died at a traffic light. When I tried to
restart it the engine turned over great but wouldn't start. I had it towed in and
it ran great for the mechanic; he couldn't find a problem. Sometimes it runs
and drives fine but sometimes the engine dies twice when I'm driving to work
or the store and I have to let it sit for 30 minutes until it will start and run
again. I took it back to the shop and they couldn't find a problem; ran great
for them. They don't know what to do and neither do I. I would appreciate
any ideas.

Just a guess but perhaps the fuel pump is on the way out.

In my eyes the symptoms point to a crankshaft position sensor or ignition control module

The first time it happened I had the fuel pump replaced. The fuel filters were also replaced I believe. Someone suggested that the alarm system may be shutting the engine down but why would it wait 5 to 30 minutes to shut it down and then allow me to restart the car 30 minutes after that?

There is a large brown wire in Engine compartment, that gets hot and becomes “open circuit” have you checked that?

I have no idea why but the problem seems to have been solved without any intervention. It just stopped dying unexpectedly for no apparent reason.

have a 1987 Rolls-Royce Corniche II 6.8L changed the battery now starts and stalls. I think it may be that the security system needs to be reset ... how to do
