Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 GMC Yukon oil pressure drops whenever I
slow down & occasionally cuts completely off if I'm
on a hill or come to an abrupt stop. What is
causing this to happen?

do you know when the last service was, change the oil and filter, as oil ages it thins meaning the pump can not pressurize it correctly and if you run it like that you'll certainly blow the motor, my advice to you is to take your automobile to your local shop and a qualified technician should be able to diagnose the malfunctioning oil pressure

Try to flush the oil very good. Normally price is $100. If it is not gonna help. It is might be an oil pump or internal engine problem. But we did fixed with flush many chevy tahoe oil change problems.

NEVER do an engine flush on an extremely high mileage engine. You could clean a bunch of gunk out that can clog the oil pick up screen starving the engine for oil. I would use a mechanical gauge and check to see what the actual oil pressure is. If it is low, a bad oil pump and or worn engine bearings are likely to blame.
