How can I move the rear seat back so it clears the cupboard?

Asked by SABD Jul 29, 2015 at 01:03 PM about the 1992 Volkswagen EuroVan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The seat that folds down into a bed is stuck on the rails leaving a 3 inch gap between it and the rear platform when down as a bed and blocking the cupboard door beneath the cooler.

thanks but already thought of that. I think something may have fallen into one of the holes on the track and we might have to lift the whole thing out. It will not move at all either back or forward.

quite often once its seized up that will happen. Usually the only thing that will release it is a good hard crank one way or the other. But that often results in a broken or bent key. Try taking the lock out of the door and putting it in a container of wd 40 for a entire night a clean margin container is good to do this with. if it still does not work after this then you will have to replace the lock. This is also why you need to use your key locks every once and a while to keep them free and clear. They are all made of aluminum and during winter salt gets in there and locks it all together.
