Very rough idle.

2003 V6 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L engine.  Sputtering and shaking started a few days ago.  Took in for Diagnostic, oil change, spark plugs, plug wires and fuel filter.  No codes on diagnostic and No different after repairs.  The mechanic suggested the Cat Converter.  I took it to an exhaust shop and they said the exhaust was fine.  They hooked up to computer and got a code for running too rich (replace MAP sensor).  So I purchased and replaced the MAP sensor.  Still no better.  Took back to exhaust mechanic and he took a second look.  He showed me where #1 cylinder was not firing.  So upon his advice, I purchased and replaced the coil.  Still no better and this evening the van actually stalled once and backfired once.  When you start the van it has a heavy gas smell.  ANY SUGGESTIONS, CURES OR SUCCESS STORIES WITH RELATION TO THIS????

Check you vacuum lines. A leak in the vacuum system causes issues with the fuel pressure regulator and EGR valve. Both of which will cause your symptoms. On the flip side, if vacuum is good, EGR may be sticking open.. May need to be cleaned or replaced. Remove and inspect.

i just found my problem. i had same problem with 2008 3.3. intake valve spring broke and valve is dinged. disable coil and pull fuel pump fuse to disable pump and do compression test. have to pull head and replace neccesary parts.oh well it is what it is
