After the engine cools off check your coolant level and refill if needed, if it is full then it is possible that the thermostat stuck closed. After the engine is cooled off try to start it, if it starts with no warning and runs smooth the engine might be OK but don't run it too long. It is too early to tell if engine replacement is required. Your best bet is to take it to a shop you trust and have it checked out.
