why doesn't my 2004 start

I tried to jump start as manual said but lights and dashboard stayed on for a min and it would not start car

how's the battery, if it's still a 2004 is time for a new one, I've heard these are conveniently located under the back seat....should be able to spot corrosion a the terminals anyways you're gonna be wirebrushing for installation of your new battery..be sure to check the other end of the black wire (connection to chassis) assure that it's metal on metal and not a corrosion connection~

What is it doing when the key is turned? Are there any noises? Does the engine turn over but not fire? Do you hear clicking? If the starter is good and your battery is half way good, it should have turned over with the jumper cables.
