Yes, new model year cars are introduced during the fall of the previous calendar year. Most manufacturers begin production of the new model year in July/August of the prior calendar year. For example the 1978 Cadillac Eldorado that I owned, years ago, was built during the 4th week of August 1977. It was a '78 model though. HTH. -Jim
