Placed a new battery in my 1984 El Camino and now I hear a rapid ticking noise in the engine after it starts

Does the noise increase with the engine speed? If you can isolate the noise in the engine compartment. Check the clearance of the fan blade to the shroud

Sounds like it is under air filter. Could it be that it is not tightened down enough?

Ticking could be an exhaust leak, is something contacting the fan or belts?
