After the redesign in 1998, there were few changes to the 1999 Dodge Intrepid STD. It comes standard with the 2.7-liter, 200-hp V6 engine and lots of interior luxuries such as power windows and locks, tachometer, cruise control, center console, cupholders, air conditioning, power heated mirrors, and tilt steering wheel. It gets about 19/29 mpg, so it's not only fast, its economical too. Just what every family needs.
Options include ABS brakes, leather trim, power-adjustable driver's seat, front split bench seat, and power sunroof. A fast car with great acceleration and pickup, but also easy handling and maneuverability considering its full-size dimensions. Roomy and comfortable inside. However, it gets a lot of poor ratings from owners because of its miserable repair record.

A family sedan with a sportier package than its base model, the 1999 Dodge Intrepid ES features a bigger engine (3.2-liter, 225-hp V6), standard ABS brakes, and cool features such as fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and leather steering wheel trim all standard. Other standard features not available on the base trim are keyless entry and lighted entry.
Unique options include a garage door opener, leather seats, traction control, a trip computer, and an optional 2.7-liter, 200-hp V6 engine. Drivers like the speed of the 3.2 V6 and how easy the Intrepid handles, particularly thte AutoStick transmission. Aside from the oft-heard repair issues, other complaints concern blind spots and poor visibility, and back doors that are too long to open in tight parking spots.
