The 1999 Dodge Intrepid is sleek, sporty, speedy, and spacious -- the four primary reasons owners are attracted to the car in the first place. For 1999, Dodge made few changes to its full-size sedan, aside from offering remote keyless entry on base models and an anti-theft option that disengages the ignition until the correct key is used. The 1999 Intrepid also boasts improved suspension, for even better handling in this already agile sedan. Inside, some of the fabrics and materials were updated.
The 1999 Intrepid has great acceleration and road handling. With a base 2.7-liter, 200-hp V6 or the 3.2-liter, 225-hp V6 available in ES trims, drivers find the Intrepid a lot of fun to open up on the road. An 18.4-cubic foot trunk and a large interior that comfortably seats five or six means you can pack up your friends and plenty of gear and set out for a long and comfortable road trip.
For all the praise owners lavish on its powerful engine and roomy cabin, unfortunately the new generation of Intrepids seems to experience a lot of mechanical problems. A oil sludge buildup in the 2.7 V6 engine, which can lead to costly repairs, has been well documented. Electrical problems seem to center around faulty power windows. Some owners complain about the sluggishness of the 2.7 engine. Others wish for a rear seat that folds down for more cargo room.

good car with great millage..18 in town and 28 high way. have large interior space and a large trunk. good for flight. air bags equiped and safty belt on both front and back sit. well maintened and savice every 2000 miles. no need of tire, probably will last for one more year.Jul 01, 2012

Everything about this car sucks except it's looks! I bought it from a family member who never had a problem with it and the only time it was in the shop was for routine maintenance. It only had about 116,000 miles on it when I got it. I've had it for a year now and I've already replaced the crank shaft and cam sensor, cv joint, and roders. The tires wear quickly, I now need a new muffler system and a loud squeak is coming from the drivers side and my ac doesn't work and my mechanic can't figure out why. Mpg's aren't great I fill up twice a week. Takes forever to accelerate but brakes nice. Wind pushes it around easily. I really wish I didn't give up my jeep for this car.Oct 19, 2011

Decent performance - good acceleration for tight situations, smooth braking, and decent handling for a sedan
Build - Brakes are going out on me at 81,??? miles, little bit of rattling from plastic interior pieces
Appearance - Interior is desirable, all leather upholstery, power locks/windows, exterior is slick and very "curvy" for a more sports car look
Cost - Average gas mileage, between 18-21 miles/gal (varying), give or take 220-300 trip miles per fill-up
Fun - Can't complain about high way driving, easy to maneuver at high speeds and keep up with trafficNov 25, 2009

The car is not super fast but it is enough to blow the doors off of a civic. It corners like a brick but still sticks the corners aright. The car isnt cheap, but lots of things seem to break. It is a cool looking car but its sort of large with lots of blind spots. It would average 26 mpg if i was really easy on it. It was not a bad first car, not really my style anymore but if you are a dad and need a car... maybe this one.Jul 24, 2009

Performance, fixed motor, bored and a stroked 1 liter. CAI induction. It moves.
Front end work, dont buy this car if not mechanical inclined. for ex, Tie rods, ball joints, Sway bar bushings, CV- Joints.

I did put a few aftermarket additions to the car, but it was the the car to beat as far as, styling and drivability. I would recomend the "ES" not the "SE" who lovesz to drive and wants a full size sedan. this car is one of the finest automobiles in her price range, but great as long as it's not the "se" version!!Nov 20, 2008

I bought this car out of necessity for long distance driving. I bought it secon hand. had low mileage for its age.
drove smoothly, loved the electronic assisted manual shift. hated interior color (brown) and associated smokers smell from previous owner. wife wrecked car, got repaired, but never drove the same again.

Intrepids are GREAT! They run well and look good. The style is fresh and sleek. Even when they are 7 or 8 years old they look brand new because the design is so good. I've never had a major problem with mine, just routine things, and normal wear and tear. THey drive really nice, the handling is excellent, good cornering and plenty of pep.Aug 07, 2008

I bought this card in year 2000. I had lots of problem with it. Both
windows, the passenger & the driver's went. The a/c is no longer working. The control for the heat and the air only runs on high. and now the sensors are falling apart. Intrepid power steering pump/fluid problem
Just replaced a leaky high pressure hose and pump on my 99 intrepid. New pump whines bad and the fluid froths up and overflows when I turn the wheel to bleed it. Can I use Aviation hydraulic fluid instead of off the shelf p.s. fluid ? I live in Alaska and the cold kills the pumps here.
