My experience dealing with CarGurus was 5 star. I was offered a fair price for my 2019 Ford Escape. The CarGurus process was simple and fast. Their representatives — and I spoke with several at different times — we’re always professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because when you sell your car, you have to work with the car dealer that is buying your car. The first dealer didn’t show up or call when they missed the first scheduled appointment. The second time the dealer called and said no Uber or Lyft was available to come to my house to conduct the transaction and pick up the car. I called CarGurus at that point and asked to be assigned to another dealer. That dealer arrived at the scheduled time, efficiently worked through the transaction, and was very courteous. The funds were transferred to my bank account within 48 hours. My point here is that CarGurus needs to recognize that their reputation and brand are tied — rightly or wrongly — to the car dealers they represent, and how those dealers behave. So CarGurus, choose wisely.
