2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, which debuted in 2005, was still in its second generation by 2021. The current generation, introduced in 2014, received a significant refresh in 2018 that carried over into 2021. This refresh included a dual-screen center console, a defining feature of Land Rover interiors in recent years. A plug-in hybrid variant was introduced in 2020, along with the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Range Rover Sport offered various trims, including SE, HSE Silver, HST, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography, SVR, and SVR Carbon Edition, each with a range of luxurious features and powerful engines.

In contrast, the 2022 INFINITI QX60 underwent a complete redesign, marking the start of its second generation. The new exterior featured a prominent grille, slim LED headlights, and a floating roof design. The interior was equally impressive, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, quilted leather upholstery in the Autograph trim, and a spacious, open feel. The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport offered a variety of powertrain options. The 2022 INFINITI QX60, on the other hand, featured a 3.5-liter V6 engine, naturally aspirated and direct-injected, producing 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The new nine-speed automatic transmission replaced the previous CVT, offering a smoother and more responsive driving experience. The QX60's suspension, with MacPherson struts up front and an independent multilink setup in the rear, provided a comfortable ride, while the rack-mounted electric power steering assist delivered good feel. The QX60's fuel economy was estimated at 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway/23 mpg combined for FWD models and 20 mpg city/25 mpg highway/22 mpg combined for AWD models. The QX60 excelled on smooth highways and suburban streets, offering a serene ride and ample comfort for passengers.

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport provided a maximum of 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded and 31.7 cubic feet with the second row in use. An optional third row increased seating capacity from five to seven, but with the third row in use, cargo space was limited to 10.8 cubic feet. Both the first and second rows offered ample headroom and legroom, while the third row was best suited for children.

The 2022 INFINITI QX60, with its three-row seating, catered to all passengers with ample storage, charging ports, and comfort. The second-row seats, which could slide fore and aft, allowed for easy access to the third row. The QX60 offered 14.5 cubic feet of luggage space behind the third row, 41.6 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 75.4 cubic feet with both rows folded. The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's interior was dominated by a dual-screen center console. The lower screen controlled climate settings and vehicle settings, while the upper screen housed the infotainment system. Although the system had a learning curve and some bugs in earlier models, it featured Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a real volume button. The system's saving grace was the pair of dials integrated into the lower screen, which could switch between multiple functions.
