Is the 2025 Honda Odyssey a good car?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey earns an expert rating of 6.3/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

You get a minivan that remains comfortable, practical, and enjoyable to drive, with comfortable seats and plenty of cargo space still central to its appeal. The trade-offs are clear: hybrid powertrain unavailable and outdated technology. It fits you best if you want a traditional family hauler with easygoing driving manners and strong everyday usefulness, even if its value is weaker than rivals.

With 39.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Honda Odyssey reliable?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey is presented as a familiar, proven family minivan with a straightforward V6 powertrain and a long-running formula that emphasizes comfort and practicality.

Its performance character is described as rewarding for a minivan, with a 3.5-liter V6, a 10-speed automatic, responsive steering and braking, and a compliant ride. The expert commentary also notes that Honda’s tuning gives it a natural driving feel, which supports confidence in everyday use.

Honda’s safety and driver-assistance package is broad, and the standard equipment operates smoothly and unobtrusively. For used ownership, the main long-term risk is that you may be buying into a model that feels dated sooner than rivals, especially if you want the latest tech or lower running costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Honda Odyssey?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple examples at different price points. Focus on overall condition, because the Odyssey’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the cabin and tech still feel fresh.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Odyssey comes in EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite trim levels. The base trim is gone, so the least expensive version starts higher than before. The upper trims add more convenience and luxury equipment, while the Elite is the most fully equipped version.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic. You cannot get AWD or a hybrid powertrain in this Honda.
• Safety package: Every Odyssey has Honda Sensing, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Touring and Elite add front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: The Odyssey adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and USB-C charging ports throughout the cabin.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey should get 22 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey is offered in 4 trim levels: EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L: This is the entry point now that the base trim is gone, so it’s the trim to consider if you want the Odyssey’s core comfort and practicality without stretching to the pricier versions.
• Sport-L: This is the trim to look at if you want a step up in style and equipment while staying below the upper trims.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want more family-friendly convenience and the added safety equipment from the upper end of the lineup.
• Elite: This is the one to buy if you want the most upscale Odyssey experience, with the fullest feature set and the highest level of equipment.

The Touring and Elite add front and rear parking sensors, which is a useful safety-package upgrade over the lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Honda Odyssey?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,880 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.48% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,059, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $35,059 sits slightly below last year's $42,488.

That price drop suggests the Odyssey is in a softer resale position than it was a year ago. If you’re a future seller, that means you may face more competition from similarly priced used minivans, especially because this model’s value is already described as weak relative to rivals.

For you as a buyer, the lower average price can work in your favor now. But if you plan to resell later, the same market pressure could limit how much value you recover.

Is the 2025 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey earns a “Poor” rating in a new IIHS evaluation, and it also performs well in NHTSA testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Touring and Elite add front and rear parking sensors.

The main caution is that the new IIHS result is a notable shortcoming, and Honda didn’t engineer the current-generation Odyssey for that evaluation. Even so, the standard driver-assistance suite is broad, and the systems generally operate smoothly.

Should I buy a 2025 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.48% compared with last year.
• The 2025 update gives you a new 7-inch digital driver display, an updated 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, modernized USB-C charging ports, a smartphone charging pad, and a new Amazon Fire TV rear-seat entertainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of the Odyssey with the updated cabin tech and you’re comfortable with its weaker value proposition, the 2025 is the right path. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may make more sense, especially if you’re willing to give up some of the 2025 updates.
