Summary
With 69 currently listed for sale near Dallas, TX and an average price of $28,508.00, 43.5% of 2022 Honda Passports for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Honda Passport stands out as a rugged-leaning two-row midsize SUV with a light restyle that gives it a fresher look. It is also the first Honda SUV to wear the TrailSport trim name, a move aimed at making the Passport more appealing to buyers who like outdoor adventure. For 2022, Honda also added revised wheel designs, fresh paint colors, and new safety features.
Beyond the updates, the Passport’s appeal comes from its everyday strengths. It is described as fun to drive, comfortable, and roomy enough to offer plenty of cargo space. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: its infotainment technology is outdated, its advanced safety features are unrefined, and it does not earn top safety ratings.

All the features are awesome! Plus, I got a great deal on this vehicle! Nothing is missing from the SUV. This SUV is very similar to the Honda Pilot except for the third-row seating.

We love the Honda Passport for the amount of room inside & all the safety features it came with. I thought it was very comparible in price to the Ford Edge.

Reviewed a 2022 Honda TrailSport AWD on Nov 4, 2022
I had narrowed my search to 3 manufacturers and test drove one from each . Actually I drove two at Honda. The EXL and the Trail Sport. IMO there was definitely a different feel to the two trims. This is due to the wheel size I would imagine. The other models were the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota Highlander. The Honda passport just has a heavier sturdier feel, more like a truck. Almost forgot, I also drove a loaner Subaru Ascent for a week. It was a nice vehicle. But still preferred the Passport. It just has a much sturdier feel to it. I am still learning all the accessories. This vehicle is impressively equipped. I can’t think of anything else I could want as far as features and accessories. Love my new SUV!

The powertrain is described as smooth and strong, and the SUV’s straightforward setup should make it easy for you to live with over time. Honda also adds a rear-seat reminder system and a seatbelt reminder system for 2022.
If you buy used, your main long-term risk is that aging infotainment and driver-assist tech may feel dated sooner than the rest of the vehicle.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Passport?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and how well the technology and driver-assist systems operate in real use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base EX-L gives you leather seats and plenty of standard equipment, while TrailSport adds orange contrast stitching, amber ambient lighting, embroidered headrest emblems, rubber all-season floor mats, and a tougher look. Elite sits at the top with the most equipment.
- Powertrain: The Passport uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. FWD is limited to EX-L, while TrailSport and Elite include AWD.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. The system is comprehensive, but some functions are less refined than rivals.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. TrailSport adds navigation, while Elite adds a 10-speaker premium sound system and HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates it at 22 mpg combined with FWD and 21 mpg combined with AWD. The TrailSport test vehicle averaged 21.3 mpg over hundreds of miles.
Which 2022 Honda Passport trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Passport is offered in 3 trim levels: EX-L, TrailSport, and Elite.
Here's the short version:
- EX-L: This is the best-value choice if you want the lowest entry point without giving up the Passport’s core strengths. You still get leather seats and the standard 8-inch touchscreen, plus the full Honda Sensing suite.
- TrailSport: This is the trim to choose if you want the Passport’s new rugged look and the most adventurous vibe. It adds unique styling, standard AWD, navigation, and off-pavement-friendly hardware, making it the most distinctive middle ground.
- Elite: Choose this if you want the most upscale Passport experience. It adds the premium sound system and HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access, so it suits you best if comfort and convenience matter more than price.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Passport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.
- Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,803 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.80% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,608.45, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $29,690 sits slightly below last year's $31,856.
That softer pricing suggests the Passport has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help if you buy now and later resell into a more stable market. The current trend also means your entry price is more favorable than it was a year ago, which can improve your odds of limiting future loss.
Because the Passport still has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain healthy among shoppers who want a roomy, comfortable two-row SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport safe?
It earns five-star ratings in all but front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, which earns the SUV four stars. It also gets a four-star rating for rollover resistance.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. For 2022, Honda also adds a rear-seat reminder system and a seatbelt reminder system.
The main caveat is that some of the driver-assist functions are less refined than you might want, especially the lane-departure warning and lane-centering behavior. The IIHS also gives the Passport an Acceptable rating for front-passenger protection in a small overlap collision.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.80% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It brings a light restyle, the new TrailSport trim, revised wheel designs, fresh paint colors, and new safety features.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $24,651, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,690 average.
- It bridges outdoor adventure and daily life with a more active personality.
The bottom line: If you want the newer styling, TrailSport trim, and updated safety content, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter value play, especially if you can live without the 2022 updates.
