CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 759 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,800.00, 35.0% of 2022 Toyota Venzas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Venza 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
82.6% of 2022 Venza models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Venza stands out by blending wagon-like proportions with crossover SUV practicality, giving it a shape and identity that feels a little different from the usual midsize two-row SUV. It also comes with a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, which helps define it as an efficiency-focused choice rather than a conventional gas-only family hauler.
That focus on efficiency is one of its biggest strengths. The Venza uses a 2.5-liter gas engine, an electric motor, and a continuously variable automatic transmission, and the EPA estimates it can achieve up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy. It also starts at $33,240 and is offered in three trim levels. Beyond the numbers, the available information points to a comfortable, quiet, and smooth-driving vehicle with a luxurious-feeling interior, while owners also praise its fuel efficiency. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology can be unintuitive, the design may be polarizing, and cargo space is limited.

The Venza looks more Lexus-like, inside and out. I was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the interior was. I like the fuel consumption of this new generation of hybrid and the higher sitting position. I looked at an XLE, which had good safety tech and decent upgrades over the LE. Disappointed that the panoramic sunroof is only available on the Limited trim. I think Toyota should include a conventional sunroof/moonroof that opens on at least the XLE. I would buy one if the markets pricing was normal.

We love our Toyota Venza! Its user friendly, has great visibility and maneuverability. Spacious, yet not too big. Great gas milage being a hybrid. Just need to get used to the quiet ignition noise- you forget its on! Weve been happy with this car for our 16 yer old driver.

Wonderful car, even considering the price tag. Extremely posh interior, thoughtful tech and safety features, beautiful design, drives pleasantly. Not for racing enthusiasts. A vehicle for those who want to keep their blood pressure under control.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for comfort, fuel efficiency, and day-to-day dependability, with many saying they would recommend it for its value and efficiency. The expert evaluation also describes the hybrid setup as transparent in operation and requiring no special attention to work, which supports the idea of low-fuss ownership. Toyota’s hybrid system is presented as a conventional setup that avoids charging concerns, which can make ownership simpler for you over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the hybrid concept itself and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, infotainment usability, and overall cabin condition. Since owners mention limited cargo space and some trims missing features they wanted, it also makes sense to confirm the exact equipment on the vehicle you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LE has the smaller 8-inch touchscreen and a 5-inch instrument cluster display, while the XLE and Limited move to a 7-inch cluster screen. The Limited adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, and some desirable equipment is reserved for higher trims or packages.
- Powertrain: You’re shopping a hybrid setup with a 2.5-liter gas engine, electric motors, and 219 horsepower combined. It’s tuned for efficiency and smooth everyday driving rather than aggressive performance.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard too, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is limited to XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: LE and XLE models use an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Toyota Connected Services. The Limited gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The overview says the Venza can achieve up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy.
Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Venza experience with the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, blind-spot monitoring, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the smaller 5-inch instrument cluster display. It’s the value play if you want the Venza’s efficiency and standard safety without paying for extras you may not need.
- XLE: This trim adds more convenience and a more upscale feel, including the 7-inch instrument cluster display and front and rear parking assist with automated braking. It’s the best middle-ground choice if you want a stronger equipment mix without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, navigation, and fog lamps. It suits you best if you want the most premium Venza experience and are willing to pay for it.
Safety-wise, all trim levels get Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while XLE and Limited add front and rear parking assist with automated braking.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 781 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,405.71, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $28,933 sits slightly below last year's $29,813.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but a well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who value efficiency and a premium feel. Strong demand for this kind of hybrid crossover can help support future resale, especially if your vehicle stays clean and well documented.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 keeps the hybrid-only formula, standard all-wheel drive, and strong efficiency focus.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,202, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,933 average.
- It feels more premium than typical mainstream SUVs.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $33,452, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,933 average.
- It leans harder into style and efficiency with a more upscale cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and standard equipment, the 2022 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the same basic appeal, but you should compare condition and equipment closely before deciding.
