Is the 2020 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Impreza earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its ride quality, handling, and fuel efficiency, and the all-wheel-drive setup is a major reason it stands out. That fits well if you want a practical compact car that feels composed and confidence-inspiring for everyday driving and year-round use. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding attractive pricing.

Is the 2020 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user summary also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting how easy it is to live with over time. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used car you can count on for daily commuting and regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s core appeal and more about how well each individual example has been maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Impreza?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially clean on paper. Focus on condition details that affect daily livability, including signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and any cosmetic issues that could hint at harder use. Because this model’s appeal is tied to practicality and confidence, you want a used example that still feels solid, tidy, and well cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 753 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,972, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $16,233 sits slightly below last year's $17,235.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that means resale value will depend heavily on how well the car is presented and how clean its history is. A well-kept example should still hold appeal because shoppers continue to value the Impreza’s practical layout and all-wheel-drive confidence.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,027, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,233 average.
• SI-Drive became available on the Premium trim.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2020 if you want the better value and a broader chance at discounted listings. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly newer model and a modest feature update, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative.
