Summary
With 1,528 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,722, 29.8% of 2019 Toyota Tundras for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Toyota Tundra 4.64 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Tundra stands out by sticking with a tried-and-true pickup formula rather than chasing the latest trends. The expert test drive data says Toyota brings back the TRD Pro trim for 2019, and that the Tundra continues forward without significant updates or upgrades. It also notes that the truck offers multiple powertrain options, which adds to its appeal for buyers who want straightforward capability and choice.
That same simplicity is part of the Tundra’s identity, but it is also where some buyers may hesitate. The source describes the truck as having poor ergonomic design, and the user review summary points to outdated technology, especially the navigation system, along with fuel economy that could be better. Even so, the 2019 Toyota Tundra remains appealing to shoppers who value a familiar, durable-feeling full-size truck with a solid reputation and a no-nonsense approach.

i have had a 2012 Tundra and 2017. They are a beast of a truck with soo much room. Two things i would change and thats probably it. They NAVIGATION system is the weakest on the market. The screen and apps are actually really bad. Reason why i didnt purchase another one in December. The second would be the gas mileage. I guess that comes with the beefiness of the truck. If the Nav was better, i would trade my truck in tomorrow to get another one.

If the technology inside was updated, I’d give it 5 stars. A little bulky but definitely a work mule of a truck.

The Tundra is beautiful. Had just about every feature you could want. Rides like a luxury car. Had more room than any other truck in its class. Great value and amazing truck all around!

Drivers consistently praise its solid and reliable character, roomy cabin, and comfortable ride. The review summary also points to strong performance and towing capability, which fits the truck’s straightforward, capability-first identity.
The trade-offs are clear: the expert notes poor ergonomic design, and the user feedback calls out outdated technology, especially the navigation system, along with fuel economy that could be better.
If you want a familiar full-size truck with a durable feel and a no-nonsense setup, the Tundra fits that brief well. 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2019 Toyota Tundra reliable?
Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user review summary describes the Tundra as solid and reliable, and it also highlights the truck’s comfortable, roomy nature. The expert test drive data reinforces that theme by emphasizing V8 power, a broad and predictable power band, and impressive durability and reliability.
Toyota’s maintenance perk language is not included in the source data, but the truck’s simple, proven mechanical setup is part of its appeal if you want something you can count on over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that age-related wear and outdated systems may matter more than outright mechanical drama.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Tundra?
At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of uneven wear. Because this truck’s appeal depends heavily on durability and capability, condition matters a lot more than cosmetic polish.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SR includes heated mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, a damped tailgate, an integrated trailer-brake controller, and a safety suite with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. The SR5 adds a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic info, HD and satellite radio, foglights, and variable-intermittent windshield wipers. The Limited adds leather front bucket seats with power, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, dual-zone auto climate control, navigation, and auto headlights. The Platinum and 1794 Edition add unique styling, a sunroof, heated and cooled front seats with driver memory, power side-view mirrors with auto dimming, an upgraded 12-speaker JBL stereo, and LED daytime running lights. The TRD Pro adds a raised suspension, off-road tires with forged BBS wheels, Fox shocks, a skid plate, and TRD Pro-specific styling.
- Powertrain: The Tundra uses two V8 options paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4.6-liter V8 makes 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.7-liter V8 adds 71 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque, along with more payload and towing capacity. The larger engine is the better fit if you want stronger capability.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, auto high beams, and a drowsiness monitor. Blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is standard on most trims, but it is unavailable on the base SR and the TRD Pro.
- Infotainment: The base truck gets a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and a 6-speaker stereo with a CD player. The SR5 upgrades to a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic info, plus HD and satellite radio. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are not available.
- Fuel efficiency: The 4.6-liter V8 with rear-wheel drive is rated at 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined. The rear-wheel-drive 5.7-liter V8 can deliver up to 13/18/15.
Which 2019 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?
The 2019 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro.
Here's the short version:
- SR: This is the value play if you want the essentials plus a surprisingly strong safety suite, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. It also brings heated mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, a damped tailgate, and an integrated trailer-brake controller.
- SR5: This is the best-value upgrade if you want a more usable infotainment setup, since it adds a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic info, along with HD and satellite radio and foglights.
- Limited: Choose this if you want a more comfortable daily driver, thanks to leather front bucket seats with power, dual-zone auto climate control, navigation, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
- Platinum: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale Tundra, with unique styling, a sunroof, heated and cooled front seats with driver memory, an upgraded JBL stereo, and LED daytime running lights.
- 1794 Edition: This is the style-focused luxury choice, and it shares the Platinum’s upscale equipment while leaning into its own unique appearance.
- TRD Pro: Pick this if you want the most off-road-focused version, with a raised suspension, off-road tires, Fox shocks, a skid plate, and TRD Pro-specific hardware and styling.
Blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is standard on most trims, but it is unavailable on the base SR and the TRD Pro.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Tundra?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,555 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.51% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $33,170, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Toyota Tundra's resale value?
The current average of $34,593 sits slightly below last year's $35,124.
That modest decline suggests the market has softened, which can make the truck easier to buy now but slightly less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, pricing pressure may continue to reflect the Tundra’s age and the competition’s newer tech and efficiency.
Even so, the Tundra’s reputation for durability and its loyal buyer base help support demand. Well-kept examples should still attract shoppers who value a proven full-size truck over the latest features.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Toyota Tundra safe?
The 2019 Toyota Tundra earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and three-star rollover ratings from NHTSA, and five-star ratings in side crash tests. Independent testing from IIHS also shows a mixed result, with Marginal ratings for the headlights and driver-side small overlap front test, a Poor rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test, and Acceptable roof strength.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense brings forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, auto high beams, and a drowsiness monitor. Blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is standard on most trims, but it is unavailable on the base SR and the TRD Pro.
The main caveat is that some of these systems feel dated and can be overly intrusive at times, so you should test them on a drive before you buy.
Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 brings back the TRD Pro trim, adding a revised suspension and off-road hardware.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $36,682, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $34,593 average.
- It is described as especially reliable and spacious.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the next model year, the 2020 may appeal if you prioritize its reliability-focused positioning and can accept the higher asking price.
