How much does the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback cost?

There are 238 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, great fuel economy, compact size, and easy maneuverability, and they also like the tech features and thoughtful design. The overview points to a hatchback that feels more stylish and more sophisticated than the Corolla iM it replaces, while still keeping practical everyday appeal.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and limited rear-seat and cargo space, so you should expect a car that fits commuting and city use better than maximum passenger or hauling needs. Even so, the market signal is favorable, with 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its smooth ride, great fuel economy, compact size, and thoughtful design. The expert notes also emphasize Toyota’s longstanding reputation for durability, and the cost-effectiveness discussion adds that the car includes free scheduled maintenance for the first two years of ownership.

That combination suggests solid day-to-day dependability, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance records, tire wear, and the condition of the drivetrain and electronics to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and underbody condition. Because this model is valued for its tech, ride quality, and efficiency, you should also make sure the infotainment, driver-assistance features, and transmission operate as expected on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE and XSE trims differ in equipment, with the XSE adding more upscale interior presentation and more technology. The base trim still brings a strong feature set, but the higher trim is the better fit if you want a more premium feel and more convenience features.
• Powertrain: A naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a Dynamic Shift CVT. The CVT adds launch-gear behavior, simulated ratios, and manual-shift mode with paddle shifters, while the manual is standard across the lineup.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. Maximum adaptive cruise-control capability requires the CVT, and blind-spot warning is available without rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, fast-charge USB ports, connected navigation app support, Wi-Fi Connect, Safety Connect, Siri Eyes Free, and Amazon Alexa integration. Android Auto is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 29.2 mpg, and the vehicle is described as rated at 33 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is offered in 2 trim levels: SE and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the trim to start with if you want the Corolla Hatchback’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the standard safety suite, the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and the same basic powertrain choices, so it covers the essentials well.
• XSE: This is the better-value choice if you want the more premium-feeling version. It adds a richer interior presentation, more technology, and the equipment level used in the expert test vehicle, making it the trim that best matches the car’s upscale ambitions.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on every trim, and the CVT is required if you want maximum adaptive cruise-control capability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 238 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.53% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,807, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $17,779 sits slightly above last year's $17,512.

That year-over-year increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A model with steady pricing and a clear value story tends to stay on shoppers’ radar, especially when it also offers strong fuel economy and a good reputation for durability.

Because the price range is fairly tight, condition and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually resell. Well-kept examples with desirable features should be easier to position competitively than higher-mileage or poorly maintained ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback safe?

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, bringing adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. The system is broadly effective, but the expert notes that the lane-based aids can occasionally issue false alerts or intervene in ways you may need to override.

A blind-spot-warning system is available, but it does not include rear cross-traffic alert, so you should rely on the standard reversing camera and be especially careful in parking lots and driveways. The expert also notes that the lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can make the steering feel worse in your hands.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.53% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says the 2019 Corolla Hatchback is more stylish, more sophisticated, and better to drive than the Corolla iM it replaces.

The bottom line: If you want this hatchback’s strongest mix of style, value, and everyday usability, the 2019 is a sensible target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained examples and be selective about condition, because the market still rewards clean, well-equipped listings.
