The Corolla Hatchback was introduced for the 2019 model year and has seen minor updates in the years since, most notably with the introduction of Apple CarPlay as a standard feature and Android Auto as an option in 2020 and 2021, respectively, and updated infotainment and styling in 2023. ## Design The Corolla Hatchback offers up more cargo space than the sedan, despite being 10.5 inches shorter overall. Otherwise, these two versions of the Corolla are similar in design, though hatchbacks may be perceived as sportier, generally speaking. The Corolla Hatchback wears 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a taillight design shared with the GR Corolla performance version. The Nightshade Edition has dark contrasting exterior trim. ## Powertrain The Corolla Hatchback comes with just one powertrain. It pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive (FWD). Normal, Eco, and Sport selectable driving modes tune response for the desired effect.
