How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 3.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,641 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its powerful diesel performance, smooth ride, and comfort, and they also highlight fuel economy and reliability. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a heavy-duty truck that still feels reasonably polished and well-equipped for work or everyday use. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable, dependable, and well-built, with comments that point to trouble-free ownership and confidence over the long term. That kind of feedback matters if you plan to keep the truck for years, because it suggests the ownership experience can be steady rather than unpredictable. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about how well a specific truck was maintained and used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has been used for towing or job-site duty. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and wear that could point to hard use. Pay close attention to the cabin and interior condition too, since comfort and trim quality can vary a lot from one truck to another.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,641 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,931, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $31,378 sits slightly below last year's $32,356.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you're planning to hold the truck for a while. For a future seller, the softer pricing trend suggests resale gains may be limited in the near term unless the truck is especially clean, well-optioned, or lightly used. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks still helps support value, but condition and history will matter a lot when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,174, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $31,378 average.
• It is more work-focused and especially appealing for buyers who prioritize job-site utility.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced choice, the 2018 is the stronger default because it combines solid owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and a decent inventory pool. If your top priority is saving money, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and may make sense if you value work-first capability over the 2018’s broader appeal.
