How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. Owners consistently praise its towing and hauling capability, heavy-duty performance, and overall build quality, while also appreciating the features it offers. That makes it a strong fit if you want a capable used heavy-duty truck with useful tech and a comfortable, functional cabin. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights dependable heavy-duty performance, strong Duramax engine performance, and overall build quality. Some shoppers do note minor cosmetic issues and wear on used examples, so condition matters more than mileage alone. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is finding a truck that has been worked hard without being properly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on signs of hard use, wear on the cabin and bed, and any evidence that the truck was used for towing or hauling beyond its current condition. Focus on overall maintenance records and mechanical condition, since used heavy-duty trucks can vary widely in how they were treated.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Inventory: There are 1,557 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,509, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $28,681 sits slightly below last year's $29,593.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, maintenance history, and how clean the truck is than on age alone. Well-kept examples should hold up better than trucks with visible wear or questionable history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,455, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $28,681 average.
• It adds a work-focused diesel and job-site features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model with a more work-focused setup, the 2017 is the better secondary path.
