Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, especially the Duramax diesel engine, and they also highlight its dependable, capable nature for towing and hauling. That lines up well with the truck’s role as a heavy-duty workhorse that still offers a more refined, tech-forward cabin and useful comfort features for daily use. With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback describes it as dependable and capable, with particular praise for how well it handles towing and hauling over time. That kind of owner confidence matters if you plan to keep the truck for work or long-term use.

For used buyers, the main risk is making sure a hard-working truck has been maintained properly and not overused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 72.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of heavy use, especially if the truck was used for towing or hauling. Pay close attention to overall condition, because a heavy-duty truck can look fine on paper while still carrying wear from demanding work.

If you find a listing below $33,810, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $33,911 sits slightly below last year's $35,080.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to resell later, a lower entry price can reduce your depreciation exposure. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks can still support future value, especially when the truck is well kept and configured for towing or diesel use.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $38,490, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $33,911 average.
• It pushes capability and convenience even further, but asks more from your budget.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you are less price-sensitive and want to spend more for the next model year’s added capability and refinement, the 2020 is worth a look.
