Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the truck’s performance, especially the Duramax diesel engine, along with its towing and hauling capability. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want serious work-truck strength with a more usable, more modern cabin than older heavy-duty pickups. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as dependable and capable, and they specifically call out its towing and hauling strength as a reason they trust it. The feedback also points to a truck that many owners count on for heavy-duty use over time. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger ownership risk is less about the truck’s core capability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worked harder than its condition suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 73.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any damage was cosmetic or structural. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the frame, suspension, brakes, and drivetrain, since heavy-duty trucks are often used for towing and hauling. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a well-kept truck is more important than mileage alone in this segment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,043 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,687, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $32,687 sits slightly below last year's $34,470.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, because heavy-duty trucks tend to hold value better when they have clear maintenance history and clean records. Strong demand for capable, well-reviewed trucks can help support resale when you eventually list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $38,088, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $32,687 average.
• It adds a more modern, utility-focused feel with broader everyday usability.

The bottom line:
You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the smarter path because it gives you strong capability at a lower average price. If you can stretch for the next year and want a newer-feeling truck, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
