Is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort and a trouble-free feel in everyday use. The broader appeal comes from a car that many owners seem happy to keep for the long haul, especially when you value a relaxed, full-size sedan over something more complicated.

For used buyers, that means your long-term risk is more about finding a well-kept example than worrying about the model’s basic appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

At 50.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work. You should also pay close attention to interior wear and visibility-related concerns, since those are the kinds of issues owners have mentioned.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 598 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,915, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $12,043 sits slightly below last year's $12,780.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for roomy, comfortable sedans can help, but condition and history will matter a lot when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, comfort, and owner approval, the 2017 is the one to target first. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or cheaper example gives you a better overall deal, but the 2017 already looks like a solid place to start.
