Is the 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights dependable power, strong towing performance, and a truck that many buyers feel comfortable counting on for hard use. The same feedback also points to a few tradeoffs, especially fuel efficiency and older-feeling technology, but the core ownership experience is still viewed positively. For used buyers, that means long-term risk is more about finding a well-kept example than worrying about the model’s basic ability to hold up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has been used for towing or commercial work. Put inspection priority on frame condition, signs of heavy-duty wear, and evidence of repairs that could affect long-term durability. Focus on overall condition rather than just mileage, since a hard-used truck can age faster than a higher-mileage but better-maintained one.

What is the 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $26,072 sits slightly below last year's $26,215.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. You are not looking at a steep drop in value, so a well-kept truck should remain reasonably competitive when it is time to move on. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty pickups also helps support pricing, especially for examples with cleaner histories and better equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $33,318, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $26,072 average.
• It brings an all-new design with more modern technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because it combines stable pricing with solid owner satisfaction. If you are willing to pay more for newer tech and a redesigned truck, the 2017 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 is the more practical choice; for shoppers prioritizing modernization, the 2017 is worth the extra spend.
