overall

Summary
With 3,580 currently listed for sale and an average price of $41,208, 28.7% of 2020 Ford F-250 Super Dutys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
72.5% of 2020 F-250 Super Duty models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that prioritizes power and capability. It is described as delivering on those strengths, and the test-drive summary says it gives up a bit of ride quality to achieve some best-in-class numbers. That tradeoff helps define its appeal: it is aimed at buyers who need serious truck capability and are willing to accept less refinement in return.
It also has some practical strengths that make it easier to live with. The test-drive data calls out a powerful engine and a spacious cabin, which support its usefulness as both a work truck and a passenger hauler. At the same time, the truck is not especially polished inside, since the interior materials are described as feeling cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard.

F250 Super Duty; Lariat, so it has everything! Price was on point for the year, mileage and model! Only feature I didn't get was a diesel, but thats ok because I don't really need it; just a want!

The truck had bells, but there are no whistles I would have liked to have power seats. Back up camera a great idea.

I love this truck so great to drive I have F-350 ,F-450, F-550 and this F-250 is the best to drive . It’s strong enough to pull most of my trailers not all of them not the super heavy ones that the F-450 needs to pull but the 450 I’m bouncing all over the place this is a nice smooth comfortable ride all-around great truck.

Yes — the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Drivers consistently praise its power, towing capability, comfort, and spaciousness, and many also like the smooth transmission and strong diesel engine. The trade-offs are a bumpy ride when unloaded and interior materials that feel cheap.
It fits you best if you want a heavy-duty truck that prioritizes serious capability over refinement. With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a truck people feel they can count on, with repeated praise for power, comfort, towing capability, and the strong diesel engine. The expert evaluation also describes it as a well-balanced truck with serious work capability, which supports the idea that it is built for long-haul use.
The ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright dependability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worked too hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
At 72.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, frame areas, tires, and suspension wear. Because these trucks are often used for demanding work, condition matters as much as mileage. Pay extra attention to signs of heavy towing, off-road use, or deferred maintenance.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XL is the most basic work-truck setup, with vinyl upholstery, a small in-dash screen, and steel wheels, while higher trims add more comfort and appearance upgrades. The XLT brings cloth seating, power accessories, and an 8-inch touchscreen, and the Lariat adds leather and power-adjustable front seats. The King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited move further into luxury territory, with features like unique leather, heated-and-cooled seats, ambient lighting, massaging seats, and a twin-panel moonroof.
- Powertrain: You get a standard 6.2-liter gasoline V8, an available 7.3-liter gas V8, or a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8. The gas engines use a 10-speed automatic, while the diesel uses a six-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive with low range is optional.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and AdvanceTrac traction control with roll stability control. Optional driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.
- Infotainment: The base truck has a 2.3-inch in-dash screen, while the XLT adds an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen. SYNC 3 includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and FordPass Connect is standard across the lineup with a WiFi hotspot and remote vehicle functions.
- Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated for this heavy-duty pickup.
Which 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the most affordable entry point, and it makes sense if you want a straightforward work truck with the essentials. You get air conditioning, vinyl upholstery, steering-wheel audio controls, two USB ports, a small in-dash screen, and a basic stereo, but you give up most comfort and convenience features.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for most used buyers because it adds cloth seating, power doors and locks, satellite radio, a larger instrument-panel display, and the 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen. It also gets the infotainment and connectivity upgrades that make daily use easier.
- Lariat: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale cabin without jumping all the way to luxury-trim pricing. It adds leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, making it a strong middle ground.
- King Ranch: Choose this if you want a distinctive upscale look and more comfort features. It adds unique saddle leather, voice-activated navigation, heated-and-cooled front seats, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and a memory easy-exit driver’s seat.
- Platinum: This trim leans into luxury with ambient cabin lighting, massaging seats, 20-inch wheels, and a more premium exterior treatment. It suits you if comfort and presentation matter as much as capability.
- Limited: This is the top-end choice if you want the most lavish version of the truck, including the Platinum content plus a twin-panel moonroof and a more upscale grille treatment.
The safety package is broad, but many of the most useful driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,589 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.91% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 72.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $41,167, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?
The current average of $41,167 sits slightly below last year's $44,221.
That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices keep easing. Heavy-duty trucks can hold appeal when they’re well equipped and well maintained, but condition and history will matter a lot when it’s time to resell. A clean, desirable configuration should be easier to move than a truck with visible wear or a rough history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?
The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and AdvanceTrac traction control with roll stability control. Optional driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 72.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.91% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds a second gas engine option and the Tremor off-road package.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $36,359, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $41,167 average.
- It blends heavy-duty capability with everyday comfort.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $46,356, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $41,167 average.
- It keeps the focus on hardcore capability with multiple body styles and powertrains.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and capability, the 2020 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the value play. If you want to spend more for a newer truck, the 2021 is the next step up.
