How much does the 2015 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 8.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,724 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Ford Explorer earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong shopper satisfaction. Drivers consistently highlight comfort, spaciousness, performance, and useful technology, and the Explorer’s family-oriented layout makes it a practical fit if you want room and versatility. The overview also frames it as a crossover-style SUV with a more car-like driving character, which helps explain why it appeals to buyers who want everyday usability over ruggedness. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a value-priced example.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers praising its driveability, comfort, and features. That said, the broader model-year context suggests you should still approach used examples carefully, since this generation has a mixed reliability reputation overall. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a vehicle that has been maintained inconsistently or has hidden wear that can become expensive later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how well the interior and mechanical components have been maintained. Because this model year has a mixed reliability reputation, a clean, well-documented example matters more than usual.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,724 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,126, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $10,126 sits slightly below last year's $11,070.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, because buyers tend to pay more for cleaner examples with fewer concerns. A well-kept vehicle should hold up better than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,733, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $10,126 average.
• It adds refreshed styling, upgraded features, a more efficient engine option, and a Platinum trim.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer refresh, the 2016 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize updated features over upfront savings.
