Ford has long built vehicles for dedicated use by law enforcement and public service, though it didn’t begin calling them Police Interceptors until the early 1990s with the introduction of the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. In 2012, Ford added the Explorer SUV to the catalog. Two variants emerged with configurations for emergency responders and police use.
