Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?

The 2014 Sienna is described as a dependable choice, with favorable reliability expectations and a strong dependability showing. It also comes with free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific van you choose has been cared for well, since condition can vary a lot from one family hauler to another.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of wear from family use, especially around the brakes, suspension, and interior controls. If you are considering a higher-mileage example, pay close attention to how well the van has been maintained and whether its equipment works as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most affordable way in, but the LE adds power sliding side doors, privacy glass, upgraded seating, triple-zone climate control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, and a reversing camera. The XLE adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a sunroof, and power quarter vent windows, while the Limited adds premium touches like Smart Key access, push-button start, parking sensors, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 266 hp and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is responsive and strong for merging and everyday driving, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The Limited includes Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System. Toyota reserves some of the best safety equipment for the most expensive trims.
• Infotainment: The system uses a dated-looking screen, but it keeps physical knobs and buttons. Bluetooth can be fussy, and the available rear entertainment setup is a major family-friendly perk.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sienna is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes an observed 19.3 mpg in combined use.

Which 2014 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if your priority is getting into a Sienna at the lowest possible price and you do not need many extras.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features that matter most in daily family use, including power sliding doors, climate control upgrades, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a reversing camera.
• SE: Choose this if you want the sportier setup, with sport-tuned suspension and steering, larger wheels, and a more aggressive look.
• XLE: Pick this if you want a more upscale cabin with leather, heated front seats, a sunroof, and additional convenience features.

Toyota reserves some of the best safety equipment for the most expensive versions of the vehicle.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,493, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $13,023 sits slightly below last year's $13,329.

That softer pricing suggests the Sienna is not currently in a rising-value phase, so future sellers should expect a market that rewards clean condition and strong equipment more than simple age or mileage. If you buy well and keep the van in good shape, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2014 Sienna earns a three-star crash protection rating for the front-seat passenger in a frontal-impact crash from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Limited trim includes a panoramic reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System. Toyota also reserves some of the best safety equipment for the most expensive versions of the vehicle.

The front-passenger crash result is the main safety shortcoming to keep in mind when you shop used examples.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is a practical, utility-first minivan with strong family-friendly space and comfort.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $15,566, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,023 average.
• It brings broader upgrades and a stronger safety focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the easier buy. If you can stretch for a newer van and want the upgrade path, the 2015 is the more appealing choice.

How does the 2014 Toyota Sienna compare to the 2014 Honda Odyssey?

Our experts score the 2014 Toyota Sienna 6.7/10 and the 2014 Honda Odyssey 8.8/10.

The Sienna is the more affordable used buy here, with a lower average price and more listings to choose from. The Odyssey brings the stronger expert score, better fuel economy, and a higher starting MSRP when new, which helps explain why it is the more highly regarded van overall. If you want the better value on the used market, the Sienna has the edge; if you want the stronger all-around minivan, the Odyssey is the better pick.
