Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Odyssey stands out as a minivan that feels thoroughly competent in everyday use. It is described as capable in the city, in the suburbs, on the highway, and even when pushed to its limits, which speaks to the broad range of situations it handles well. That versatility is a big part of its appeal for buyers who want a family vehicle that can do nearly everything expected of it without feeling compromised.
Honda’s approach here is also about making the Odyssey a complete family hauler. The test-drive summary praises its blend of safety, technology, performance, and comfort, and says it represents the ultimate in family transportation for most Americans. Owner feedback reinforces that image by pointing to a spacious interior and family-friendly features, along with conveniences such as automatic doors and a backup camera. At the same time, some reviewers mention acceleration and vibration at certain speeds, so while the 2014 Odyssey is widely appealing, it is not entirely free of drawbacks.

I’ve been searching for an Odyssey since mine was totaled several months ago. When I test drove this one I immediately knew I would buy it. Nothing compares to the versatility and cargo room of a minivan. Road trips cross country are so fun in a van. Instant hotel on wheels.

Feature are nice on Touring model. Dual side doors open which is a plus. T V in middle is a plus. Cup holder was broken off, car has a smell to it. Under hood made a vibrating noise

The automatic doors are very nice, and allow for little children to easily handle their operation. The Hatchback is also motorized, but you have the option to manually open or close it. The Lane Departure and Front Collision warnings are great safety features. This car has some great rates on insurance as well. We get great gas mileage, and have tons of room to haul people or gear around.

Great minivan that lives up to its reputation. It drives smooth, runs well, good room inside the van for passengers.

How much does the 2014 Honda Odyssey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,427 |
| Year-Round Low | $10,427 |
| Year-Round High | $11,343 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,332 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.99% |
Prices have softened 7.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,268 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and conditions.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, family-friendly features, automatic doors, and backup camera. The overview also frames it as a highly versatile family vehicle that works well in the city, suburbs, on the highway, and even when pushed harder than most minivans are.
With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Honda Odyssey reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable, family-friendly vehicle that many drivers feel comfortable living with day to day. The expert evaluation also describes it as a cost-effective choice, and the ownership-cost commentary notes better-than-average long-term cost of ownership.
That said, the same ownership-cost discussion also points to average reliability and dependability predictions, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?
At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is often bought for family duty, you should also focus on interior wear, sliding-door operation, and how well the cabin equipment works.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the most affordable trim, while higher trims add features such as triple-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, power sliding side doors, keyless access with push-button start, HondaLink, LaneWatch, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, parking sensors, and a Blind Spot Information System. The base trim leaves out many of those convenience and safety upgrades.
- Powertrain: A 248-hp 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The setup is tuned for responsive everyday driving and fuel-saving cruising behavior.
- Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure is paired with SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite trim adds a Blind Spot Information System.
- Infotainment: The LX includes Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hands-free text messaging, Pandora Internet radio, and a USB port. Higher trims add a touchscreen audio system, HondaLink, navigation, rear-seat entertainment, HDMI technology, HD Radio, and a premium Surround Sound audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is expected to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, and the expert drive notes a combined average of 19.8 mpg during testing.
Which 2014 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and still want core tech like Bluetooth, hands-free texting, Pandora, and a USB port. It makes sense if you care more about the Odyssey’s space and utility than luxury extras.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds major everyday conveniences such as triple-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, HondaLink, a touchscreen audio system, power sliding side doors, and a universal garage door opener.
- EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate. It also adds important driver-assistance features, making it a strong step up for families who want more comfort and safety.
- Touring: This trim is for you if you want both navigation and rear-seat entertainment together, plus bigger wheels, fog lights, parking sensors, memory settings, and third-row sunshades.
- Touring Elite: This is the top choice if you want the most equipment, including the ultrawide rear entertainment screen, premium audio, HD Radio, HID headlights, Blind Spot Information System, and HondaVAC.
The safety package is especially strong, and the Touring Elite’s Blind Spot Information System is a notable trim-specific upgrade.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Odyssey?

If you find a listing below $10,427, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Odyssey's resale value?
The current average of $10,427 sits slightly below last year's $11,332.
That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the van in clean condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The 2014 Honda Odyssey earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, with Good ratings in every assessment, including the small overlap frontal-impact test.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda’s safety package includes the Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure, SmartVent side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, LaneWatch, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. The Touring Elite trim adds a Blind Spot Information System.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.99% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s safety upgrades helped it earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $12,447, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,427 average.
- It brings more design flair while staying focused on family use.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the secondary path to consider.
