What should I look for when buying a used Honda Odyssey?

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging
• Fuel efficiency: According to the EPA, the 2025 Odyssey should get 22 mpg in combined driving. Our test vehicle returned 21.4 mpg on the evaluation loop and averaged 24 mpg during a week of travel that included an eight-hour round-trip drive from the far northwestern reaches of the Los Angeles suburbs to downtown San Diego.

Which Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey offers these trims:

• EX-L: The entry point for 2025, this trim gives you the Odyssey’s core family-friendly layout and the model’s easygoing, practical character.
• Sport-L: Adds a sportier appearance and sits above EX-L for shoppers who want a more distinctive look.
• Touring: Adds CabinWatch, a rear entertainment setup, and front and rear parking sensors, making it a strong choice if you want more convenience and family tech.
• Elite: The top trim adds the most upscale equipment and finishes, including the most premium presentation in the lineup.

What Honda Odyssey do most buyers choose?

The Honda Odyssey years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a wider spread of prices and conditions. That usually makes it easier to find a version that fits your budget and feature priorities.

What is the Honda Odyssey's resale value?

Most Odyssey model years are down year over year, and several recent ones show double-digit declines. That creates a friendlier buying environment if you want a used minivan with room to negotiate. The smaller declines on older model years suggest those versions have been moving more steadily than the newer ones.

The 2015, 2016, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Honda Odyssey now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −17.19% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.93%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 34%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $35,116. The Honda Odyssey offers a spacious cabin, comfortable seating, and a practical family-first layout that make it easy to live with.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Under its stubby hood, you’ll find a tried-and-true 3.5-liter V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission delivers that motive force to the Odyssey’s front wheels.
• Tech: A new 7-inch digital driver display pairs with an analog speedometer, and the minivan adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a faster processor for quicker response to inputs. In addition, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging are now standard.
• Safety: Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Starting price: For 2025, the Odyssey comes in EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite trim levels. With the departure of the base EX trim, the most affordable version of the Odyssey jumps higher in price, to $42,220 from $38,240 for last year’s EX model.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
