Very little changed in the 2005 Toyota Camry Solara from the previous year, when it was totally redesigned. The new Solara was larger with a rounder, more aerodynamic shape, and was noticeably roomier in the front compared to the previous generation. For 2005, Toyota made a leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear shift handle, and parking brake handle standard on the SE Convertible.

The 2005 Camry Solara comes in three trim levels: the SE, the SE Sport and the SLE. The SE Sport was meant for drivers who want more out of their cars than the typical Camry owner, and so it includes firmer suspension and larger tires, along with unique lower body styling and interior trim. The luxurious, fully loaded SLE has been compared to the much pricier Lexus SC 430 coupe. Available engines are a 2.4-liter, 157 horsepower four cylinder, and a new 3.3-liter, 225 horsepower V6. Fuel economy is about 20 to 30 miles per gallon, depending on the engine. The 2005 Toyota Camry Solara is also available as a convertible.

Drivers of the 2005 Toyota Camry Solara love it because they get a little bit of sports car and a little bit of family car in one package. The backseat is roomy enough for two reasonably sized adults to fit, although some complain that it is difficult to get in and out of the back.
