My Boxster starts just fine but the shifter moves freely into every gear without me having to put the clutch in. What could this mean? Easy fix? Expensive ? Any help would be much appreciate.

Is the clutch pedal up when you shift into the gears? If it is up, than the throw-out bearing is in disengaged position and not returning. Any clutch work been done lately? Have you removed and the re-installed the slave cylinder? The slave cylinder is tricky to reinstall on top of the transmission, and the piston may have jammed the throwout lever in the disengaged position. This situation will cause the shifter to allow gear changes with the clutch out. Good Luck!
