Timing Chain

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey gang,
Got a 2002 V6 Firebird with 112,000 original miles. Runs great! With no problems. Do I need to change the Timing Chain for preventative maintenance?

Unlike several foreign cars, I do not believe the timing chain is plastic like theirs and will last much longer. If you get to 200,000 you may consider it as a PM item. I have pushed several V6 and V8 GM cars to that level without changing the timing chain under normal use.
